The agreement between you and ClassOS. Plain language where plain language works; the money and the AI clauses are the ones worth reading.

Acceptance

By using ClassOS, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.

ClassOS is operated by Peyton Paske, an individual sole proprietor, doing business as ClassOS. When these terms say "we" or "us," that is who you are agreeing with. Notices and questions reach us at support@classos.ai.

Eligibility

ClassOS is for enrolled college and university students. Creating an account requires an email address ending in .edu. That is a check on the address itself, not a check on you: we do not confirm that you are enrolled anywhere, and we do not send a confirmation message to prove the address is yours. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, and at least 18 to purchase a paid plan, or have a parent or guardian do it for you.

Account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and for all activity under it.

Plans and billing

ClassOS offers a free plan and paid plans: Pro at $4.99 per month or $44.99 per year, and Scout at $14.99 per month. Payments are processed by Stripe.

Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. There are two ways to stop, and they end differently.

Cancel from the Billing page in your dashboard, which opens Stripe's billing portal, and the cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. You keep paid access until then.

Delete your account instead, and we stop the subscription from renewing before anything is erased. The account and everything in it go right away, and the period you have already paid for runs to its end at Stripe rather than being cut short. You are not charged again.

Deleting is not a refund. The remainder of a period you have already paid for is not returned to you automatically. If you sign up again with the same email address while that period is still running, we email that address a link to confirm it is you. Open it while signed in and we reconnect your new account to the plan you already paid for. Until then the new account stays free. If you would rather have the money back, email us and a person will look at it.

Prices may change with at least 30 days' notice, and a change never applies to a period you have already paid for.

Refunds

If ClassOS is not what you expected, email support@classos.ai within 14 days of your first payment and we refund it.

Renewals after that first payment are not automatically refundable. Ask anyway. We would rather sort it out than leave you paying for something you are not using.

Scout and AI features

Scout is an AI assistant powered by Anthropic's Claude. It reads your Canvas data to answer questions about your own semester. Like any AI, it can be wrong. Scout is a study aid, not an academic authority: verify anything that matters against Canvas and your syllabus, and treat your institution's records as the official ones.

Every plan has a monthly limit on AI usage. Free accounts get 20 AI generations per month. Pro gets 200 plus 150 Scout messages. Scout gets 500. Limits reset at the start of each calendar month, and new accounts get a trial of 50 Scout messages over their first 7 days. We may adjust these limits with notice.

Academic integrity

ClassOS is built to help you understand where you stand and plan your work, not to do your work for you. Do not use ClassOS, or Scout, to submit work that is not yours or to violate your institution's academic integrity policy. Your school's rules apply to you regardless of what any tool makes possible.

Canvas access

ClassOS connects to Canvas using a personal access token you generate and paste in yourself. ClassOS reads your Canvas data. The only thing it can ever write is a submission you start yourself.

To cut off that access, delete or regenerate the token in Canvas, which is where the token lives and where you control it, or delete your ClassOS account, which deletes the stored token with it. ClassOS has no button that disconnects Canvas on its own. Updating your token in Settings replaces it rather than removing it.

ClassOS is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Instructure, Inc.

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the service, interfere with operations, or attempt unauthorized access to systems or data.

Termination

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. Deleting it also stops a paid subscription from renewing, as described under Plans and billing. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms. If we terminate your account without cause while you are on a paid plan, we refund the unused portion of that period.

Intellectual property

ClassOS and its content, branding, and software are protected by intellectual property laws and remain the property of their respective owners.

Disclaimers

ClassOS is provided for planning and productivity only and does not replace official academic records from your institution.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ClassOS is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the service.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Alabama, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.

Any dispute about these terms or your use of ClassOS is resolved in the state or federal courts located in Alabama, and both you and we agree to that venue.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms periodically. Continued use after updates means you accept the revised terms.
